Today I heard the loudest thunder I’ve heard in a long time. It’s raining heavily and pretty grey in Singapore at the moment. I really don’t like the sound of thunder, especially when I am alone. It also doesn’t help when you get caught in the rain on your way back from yoga with no umbrella… To take my mind off the thunder and gloomy weather, I thought back to a much happier and magical day in Hong Kong…
Sometime in October, I was kindly invited by my friend and former colleague Myolie Wu and her business partner and friend Kev Yiu to visit Kevolie, a new bridal boutique in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, of which Kev is the chief creative designer.
I think it’s fair to say that almost every girl dreams about a fairytale wedding and central to this fairytale is of course… No, not the man… THE DRESS! Duhhh… cue *eye rolling*
As I stepped into the clean and modern Kevolie salon, I felt pretty psyched. It had been a while since I had shot wedding dresses and it’s always fun to play dress up, especially when the dresses were so dazzling and dream like. I had the opportunity to try on as many gowns as I wished, and as I began to carefully comb through the designs, I could feel pulses of excitement beating faster in me with each dress.
In the end I decided to select five designs which all featured either different silhouettes, details, textures, cutting, material or colour. I wanted to play around with different styles and to showcase the various Kevolie designs available. The photoshoot took place entirely inside the boutique, and although we didn’t have ample space (we were in Hong Kong after all!), I really think Josh did a great job using the space available and I’m really quite delighted with the final results of the shoot! I hope you are too, and do let me know which dress you like the most and why!
I think some of my favourite shots are of a particularly magical moment when we started to play around with a simple veil and Josh captured so many lovely shots of me throwing it in the air and laughing.
Be warned… Huge barrage of photos follow! This is what happens when the gowns are so splendid and the photographer is so enthusiastic and talented. I have worn Kev’s evening gowns and cocktail dresses in the past on various occasions to events and awards ceremonies and it is wonderful to see him transition so seamlessly to being a wedding gown designer. He always brings a touch of femininity and charm to his dresses and I truly hope we managed to capture some of the magic of these beautiful creations. A special thank you to Myolie and Kev for granting me an enchanting day of dress up and make-believe!
